The month of March has been filled with a ton of competition and monumental seasons. The Olympic Strength and Conditioning staff has bee in full support and spectator mode. It has been great to see our student-athletes competing again while accomplishing their performance goals!

Kudos to Adam Kearns, one of our past interns, for landing a full time position with IMG Academy in Florida.

We are also proud to announce that our very own, Coach Renteria, passed the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor Certification, was selected to receive the University of Iowa College of Education C. Esco Obermann Memorial Scholarship In Rehabilitation Counseling, and completed her comprehensive exams. Great work Coach Renteria on the second masters & thank you for adding another niche to our multifaceted staff!

  • Women’s Gymnastics - Regular Season Big Ten Champions Title

    • Coach Larissa Libby, named Big Ten Coach of the Year

    • Lauren Guerin, JerQuavia Henderson & Adeline Kenlin - name Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association All-American

    • Adeline Kenlin named Big Ten Freshman of the Year

  • Wrestling - 2021 NCAA Wrestling National Champions

    • Spencer Lee, Dan Hodge Trophy Winner

    • Coach Tom Brands, named NWCA National Coach of the Year

    • Wrestling Facts: Lee won the Hodge Trophy in 2020 and is one of three Hawkeyes to win the warred since its inception in 1995

  • Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving finishing out Big Tens and sending a total of 5 student-athletes to the NCAA Championship

  • Men’s Basketball on their amazing season & making it to second round of the Men’s NCAA tournament

    • Congrats to Luka Garza on his honors: Two-Time Unanimous First-Team All American, Big Ten Men’s Basketball Player of the Year, 1 of 5 Wooden Award Finalists, Naismith Trophy Finalist, National Player of the Year by Sporting News, Basketball Times, and The Athletic, USBWA District VI Player of the Year, Finalist for the Oscar Robertson Trophy Finalist, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award Finalist, Senior CLASS Award Finalist, and the Lute Olson Award Midseason Top 30 Finalist

  • Women’s Basketball on their outstanding season, competing in the Big Ten Championship Finals, & making it to the Sweet 16 of the Women’s NCAA Tournament

    • Congrats to Caitlin Clark on her honors: Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Unanimous First Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Freshman Team Selection, Big Ten All Tournament Team, Second Team AP All American, WBCA All-Region Honoree, Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Finalist, Naismith Player of the Year Semi-Finalist, and Dawn Staley Late Season Finalist
