Leo Liu

Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach
Biography

Leo Liu joined the University of Iowa Olympic Strength and Conditioning staff in October 2025. He works with the Rowing and Track & Field teams.

Before returning to Iowa, Leo served as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Washington University in St. Louis, where he oversees Softball, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, Men’s Soccer, and Golf, while also assisting with Football. He also previously worked with provincial athletes at the Shanghai Track & Field Center. Leo had also completed professional internships with University of Connecticut, College of the Holy Cross, Michael Boyle Strength Conditioning, and a fellowship with the Green Bay Packers.

Leo earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in Strength and Conditioning from Springfield College. 

Leo is Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, USAW Certified Sport Performance Coach from USA Weightlifting, as well as FMS and CPR certified.
