This month Olympic Strength & Conditioning staff has been testing and integrating a wide range of sport science technology. These new pieces of equipment have added a layer to our individual and team training sessions. Some of the technology includes; DynaMo, NordBord, & ForceDecks by Vald, Keiser Squat, 1080 Quantum, and Smartabase for data visualization. We are committed to enhancing our student-athlete's performance! Go Hawks and good luck to our fall sports as the begin post season.

The summer has been quick but a productive one. We had a number of student-athletes from a variety of sports training consistently. Our interns completed their capstone assignment and have grown immensely. We are looking forward to August, Go Hawks!

Summer training has begun and we love to see the commitment and discipline with training! We welcome Volunteer Coaches; Liam Cound, Elise Deaver, Nick Boss, Alex Schmoke, Caleb Malone, Val Moniquet, and Cole Weiss. This week we will be kicking off our Volunteer Coach exercise progressions. In addition, we have begun our programming & training prescription curriculum for the internship.

May has been filled with continuing education and some much needed office time for the staff. Additionally, the staff completed community service on our sponsored highway in Iowa City doing road clean up. As the semester wound down, we had a blast seeing all of our spring sport athletes finish out fantastic seasons. Congratulations to the class of 2022, you did it! Go Hawks!

We are excited to welcome our volunteer coach, Val Moniquet from Brussels, Belgium. Val will be joining us for the remainder of the spring semester and throughout the summer. The strength staff has been hard at work on continuing education and will be attending a couple conferences in May. Good luck to all of our spring sports!

Congratulations to all of our winter sports on your amazing seasons and achievements.
March has been filled with professional development, education, new training equipment, and high efforts from our student-athletes. As a Strength & Conditioning staff, we continue to progress our volunteer coaches through our curriculum in preparation for the programming capstone project. We also have been utilizing our new pieces of Keiser equipment. These new training options have provided our student-athletes with an additional loading variation and stimulus. We are dedicated to our craft and are working to up our game for the betterment of the Hawks!

Notably, February ended with two Big Ten Conference Champion teams. Congratulations to Men’s Track & Field who won the Big Ten Indoor Conference Championship and the Women’s Basketball team who were crowned Regular Season Big Ten Champions.
The Olympic Strength & Conditioning Staff love to see our student-athletes accomplish their performance and academic goals. We look forward to more success to be had during this Spring!

The Olympic Strength & Conditioning staff has been back in action with team training sessions. We are excited to welcome our spring volunteer coaching class; returning Caleb Malone and newly added Brett Platts, Liam Cound, and Val Moniquet. Their curriculum has begun and we look forward to their growth in the profession. Good luck to the winter sports and those who’s seasons are right around the corner.
